About the Opportunity 

The University of Tasmania is seeking to appoint an exceptional leader as Director, Business Partnering and Advisory Services. Reporting to the Chief People Officer, you will lead an integrated portfolio spanning business partnering, advisory services, complaints management, and complex case management. Working closely with academic and professional leaders, you will provide strategic advice, build leadership capability, and drive workforce outcomes that support the University's strategic priorities.

This role will see you lead a high-performing team, strengthen a contemporary business partnering model, and ensure leaders receive trusted, consistent and timely support across a broad range of people matters. You will also oversee frameworks that enable effective case management, governance, and continuous improvement, ensuring complex matters are managed with care, integrity, and sound judgement.

What’s Required

• Demonstrated success in leading and managing HR business partners in a large, diverse and complex organisation, driving cultural change and delivering people-centric services aligned with organisational goals.
• Demonstrated HR strategy leadership with capacity to link strategic goals with operational decisions, and develop, implement, and execute people and wellbeing strategies, translating the University's mission and strategy into actionable plans that drive organisational effectiveness.
• Strong relationship building skills with the ability to advice, coach and build mutually beneficial relationships with key stakeholders while setting and resetting expectations at the executive level, addressing uncomfortable truths, and working collaboratively to develop solutions or compromises that resolve complex challenges.
• Proven capacity to thrive and lead others in a complex and changing environment and lead decisions that have an impact across the University.
• A demonstrated ability to be 'hands on', curious about the why and focused on outcomes, supported by data driven insights to influence leaders in building an agile University through scale and simplification.
• Demonstrated experience in refining service models and using KPIs to drive continuous improvement, measure success, enhance accountability, and optimise overall performance
• A demonstrated passion and experience in shaping a highly engaging employee and team experience, fostering a positive and inclusive culture, and developing individuals' skills and capabilities.
