Head Teacher Personal Development, Health and Physical Education - Ambarvale High School

Ambarvale High School is located in Rosemeadow and is part of the Camden network of schools. We currently have 829 students, which includes 53 students in our Support Unit. 30% of students identify as coming from a non-English speaking background and 15.5% identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. We have approximately 69 teaching staff in our established staff, with additional staff purchased by the school to ensure the effective implementation of a range of educational programs. Our staff includes an Executive Leadership Team made up of 15 leaders. We also have approximately 25 non-teaching staff and a number of para-professionals, including technology support personnel, a student support officer, a speech therapist, a community liaison officer and a wellbeing and health in-reach nurse. We offer a range of extra curricula activities including representative sporting teams, and a variety of lunchtime interest clubs. Our school has a strong focus on student leadership and a suite of programs  to support  successful leaders. For many of our families, our school meets their aspirations to have their child be the first in their family to secure an HSC and engage with tertiary education. Other students are supported vocationally to access work-related curriculum and opportunities to ensure a successful transition pathway from school to their career. Our school is characterised by deep engagement with the community, including the educational community. We have an unrelenting focus on improved student learning outcomes for all students, a corresponding focus on enhanced precision in our teaching practice and a continued commitment to the development of the whole child through increased engagement, attendance and immersion in innovative and experiential ways of learning.

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, 

        1. Exceptional leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, develop and support a PDHPE faculty team with varying experience              and career levels, to build and maintain an inclusive and high-expectations culture for both staff and students.

1. Proven experience in leading evidence-informed, inclusive PDHPE teaching and learning programs that emphasise student engagement and achievement across diverse learner needs.
2. Strong capability to lead the design and implementation of curriculum, assessment, feedback, and reporting processes, utilising data and evidence-based strategies to drive continuous improvement in teaching and learning outcomes.
3. Proven experience in leading whole school teams and initiatives to support the implementation of the School Excellence Plan, with a focus on the development of staff and evidence-informed pedagogy.
