Position Overview

As a Youth Mentor within the Fusion program, you'll walk alongside young people aged 12 to 21, helping them discover their strengths, build confidence, and create positive pathways toward their future. Through genuine relationships, mentoring, coaching, and practical support, you'll empower young people to overcome challenges, pursue their goals, and connect with opportunities that matter to them, recognise their potential, develop aspirations, and take meaningful steps towards achieving the future they want for themselves.

Key Responsibilities

• Build strong connections with young people through regular engagement, both individually and in group settings.
• Mentor and coach youth in developing SMART goals and support them in achieving these objectives.
• Facilitate group activities to foster social connections and engagement with community services.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with organisational standards and practises.
• Collaborate with team members and external stakeholders to enhance service delivery and participant outcomes.
• Participate in intake processes and maintain regular follow-ups with participants.
• Develop Support Plans that are SMART, and regularly review and update as necessary.
• Assist in the closure of cases when appropriate, ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess a genuine passion for supporting young people and a commitment to their empowerment and wellbeing. Below are the essential qualifications and attributes:

• Qualification in a Human Services related field (Diploma or higher) with relevant experience.
• Proven experience in engaging with young people and supporting their development.
• Strong organisational and time management skills to meet reporting requirements.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Cultural sensitivity and understanding of the principles of Child Safe Standards.
• Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and demonstrate flexibility in working hours.

Salary & Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, with pay rates ranging from $40.49 to $46.70 per hour depending on qualifications and experience.
