Estimator - Steel

About the Role

An exciting opportunity is available for an Estimator to join a well-established and growing structural steel business based in South Brisbane.
The company has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality steel fabrication and construction solutions across commercial, industrial and infrastructure projects throughout Australia.

With a strong pipeline of upcoming work and continued business growth, they are looking to strengthen their estimating team with someone who brings a combination of estimating and drafting experience.

The ideal candidate will have strong exposure to structural steel or fabrication and be confident working with technical drawings. Experience using Tekla, SolidWorks or other drafting/design software will be highly regarded.

You will play a key role in pricing projects, reviewing drawings and specifications, preparing take-offs and supporting the broader project and fabrication teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate tender submissions, cost estimates and material take-offs
• Review structural drawings, specifications and project documentation
• Interpret fabrication and workshop drawings
• Develop scopes of work, quotations and bills of materials
• Review designs and identify potential fabrication or constructability issues
• Liaise with clients, suppliers, drafting, production and project teams
• Support project handovers, cost tracking and variations
• Assist with drafting/detailing requirements where required

What You’ll Bring

• Experience within structural steel, steel fabrication, drafting or construction
• Previous estimating experience or strong exposure to quoting and take-offs
• Strong drafting experience highly regarded
• Experience with Tekla, SolidWorks or similar drafting/design software
• Strong ability to interpret technical, structural and fabrication drawings
• Good understanding of steel fabrication processes and materials
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Proficiency in Excel and estimating software
• Trade qualification, drafting qualification or Engineering qualification highly regarded

• Salary package up to $130k + Super, depending on experience
