Position Summary
Powerfleet is seeking a Part-Time HR Generalist – Australia to provide hands-on HR support to employees and managers across our Australian operations. Based in Perth, this role will work three days per week, onsite in our Perth office, supporting the day-to-day employee lifecycle while helping ensure HR practices are consistent, responsive, and aligned with Australian employment requirements and Powerfleet’s global HR programs.
The HR Generalist will serve as a trusted point of contact for employees and managers, providing practical guidance across employee relations, onboarding and offboarding, performance management, HR policies, leave, workplace health and safety, HR systems, and general HR operations. This role will work closely with regional leaders and the HR team to deliver an effective and consistent employee experience.
Key Responsibilities
HR Generalist & Employee Support
Serve as a primary HR point of contact for employees and managers across Australia, providing timely and practical guidance on HR policies, processes, and employee matters.
Support managers with day-to-day employee relations matters, including performance concerns, attendance, workplace issues, and policy interpretation.
Assist with performance management processes, including documentation, performance improvement plans, and manager guidance.
Support employee engagement, retention, culture, and other HR initiatives across the Australian organization.
Employee Lifecycle & HR Operations
Coordinate employee lifecycle activities, including onboarding, probation periods, employee changes, promotions, transfers, leave, and offboarding.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and HRIS data.
Prepare employment documentation, employee letters, and other HR-related correspondence.
Partner with Payroll and the HR team to ensure employee changes and information are processed accurately and on time.
Respond to employee questions regarding policies, leave, benefits, payroll-related processes, and other HR programs.
Employment Practices & Compliance
Support HR practices in accordance with applicable Australian employment legislation, Modern Awards, the National Employment Standards, and company policies.
Assist with the implementation and maintenance of HR policies and procedures appropriate for the Australian workforce.
Maintain appropriate HR documentation and records to support compliance and consistent HR practices.
Stay informed of relevant changes to Australian workplace legislation and identify potential impacts on HR policies and practices.
Workplace Health & Safety
Support workplace health and safety practices and initiatives in accordance with applicable Australian and Western Australian WHS legislation and company requirements.
Partner with managers and employees to promote a safe, healthy, and compliant workplace.
Assist with workplace incidents, injury reporting, documentation, investigations, and follow-up actions as appropriate.
Support workers’ compensation and return-to-work processes in partnership with managers, employees, insurers, and other relevant parties.
Maintain required health and safety records and assist with training, communications, risk assessments, and other WHS initiatives.
Talent & Performance Support
Partner with Talent Acquisition and hiring managers to support recruitment and onboarding activities as needed.
Coordinate new-hire onboarding to ensure employees have a positive and well-organized introduction to Powerfleet.
Support annual and ongoing performance management processes, including goal setting, performance reviews, and development discussions.
Assist managers with organizational and employee changes in partnership with HR leadership.
HR Team Partnership
Partner closely with the HR team to implement company-wide HR programs and initiatives within Australia.
Provide local insight and guidance regarding Australian employment practices, workplace requirements, and employee needs.
Support global HR projects, reporting, audits, and other HR initiatives as required.
Identify opportunities to improve and streamline HR processes and enhance the employee and manager experience.
Qualifications & Experience
4+ years of HR Generalist, HR Advisor, People Operations, or similar HR experience.
Practical knowledge of Australian employment legislation, including the Fair Work Act, National Employment Standards, and Modern Awards.
Working knowledge of Australian workplace health and safety requirements; experience supporting workers’ compensation and return-to-work matters is preferred.
Experience supporting employee relations and performance management matters.
Experience managing employee lifecycle processes, including onboarding, employee changes, leave, and offboarding.
Strong HR systems and Microsoft Office skills; experience with BambooHR or a similar HRIS is preferred.
Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive employee information with appropriate discretion.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with HR colleagues and business leaders across multiple locations and time zones.
Experience working within a global or multinational organization is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or relevant qualification in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline.
AHRI membership or HR certification is advantageous.
Experience supporting employees in a technology, SaaS, IoT, telematics, or similar environment is a plus.
Work Arrangement
This is a part-time, office-based position working three days per week from Powerfleet’s Perth, Western Australia office. The HR Generalist is expected to be onsite for all three scheduled working days to provide accessible, hands-on HR support to employees and managers.
The role will primarily support employees and managers across Australia while partnering with Powerfleet’s broader HR team.
