Commercial Litigation Legal Assistant

HHG Legal Group is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to join our Commercial Litigation team in our Perth office.

This full-time role is ideal for someone with at least three years’ experience in commercial litigation or a similar area of law. You will provide proactive, high-level support to a team of three to four lawyers in a busy and collaborative environment.

About the Role

As a Commercial Litigation Legal Assistant, you will support our lawyers across a broad range of commercial disputes and litigation matters.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Providing administrative support to three to four lawyers
• Handling phone enquiries from clients and prospective new clients, gathering relevant information and directing the calls appropriately
• Drafting, formatting and preparing correspondence, court documents, briefs and reports
• Filing and serving court documents in line with court requirements and deadlines
• Managing diaries, appointments, court dates and critical deadlines
• Coordinating meetings, conferences, mediations and hearings
• Preparing briefs to counsel, court books and hearing materials
• Liaising with clients, barristers, courts, experts and other external parties
• Assisting with billing, time recording, expenses and general matter administration
• Opening, maintaining and closing files in line with firm procedures
• Maintaining accurate records and handling confidential information with discretion

You will be confident managing a busy workload, anticipating the needs of your lawyers and progressing tasks with minimal supervision.

About You

To be successful, you’ll have:

• At least three years’ experience as a Legal Assistant in commercial litigation, dispute resolution or a similar area of law
• Experience supporting multiple lawyers in a busy legal environment
• Confidence handling calls from existing clients and new clients with professionalism, sound judgement and discretion
• A good understanding of litigation processes, court procedures and filing requirements
• Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
• The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure
• Strong document preparation, formatting and file-management skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using legal practice-management systems
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• A proactive and solutions-focused approach
• Professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive information
• A genuine interest in building a long-term career as a Legal Assistant
