About the role
The Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) is seeking applications to fill a position as a Senior Professional Practice Officer. This role is ideal for an experienced teacher who can leverage their extensive knowledge and skills to support teachers across Victoria by developing resources, providing guidance and delivering projects that supports quality teaching practice across the education sector. About the roleAs part of a dynamic team of teachers within VIT, you'll use your extensive teaching knowledge to develop practical resources, provide expert guidance, and contribute to initiatives that strengthen professional practice and support quality teaching across Victoria. Just like teaching, no two days are the same, you could be facilitating workshops, developing guidance materials, responding to enquiries, analysing feedback or contributing to policy and strategic projects. Key Responsibilities:Lead and support projects that strengthen professional practice across the teaching profession.Develop, deliver and evaluate resources, guidance materials and professional learning aligned to the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (APST)Build strong relationships with internal teams, all education sectors, external partners and key educational stakeholders.Analyze stakeholder feedback and identify opportunities for continuous improvementsPrepare high quality reports, presentations, briefing papers and communication materials.Design, deliver and facilitate engaging presentations, workshops and professional learning sessions for broad range of audiences.Contribute to policy development and strategic initiatives that support teacher capability and professional practice.Monitor project outcomes, report on progress and ensure agreed deliverables are achieved. About youYou are a collaborative team player who thrives in a supportive and diverse environment. You have exceptional communication skills and stakeholder engagement skills, enjoy working with a broad range of people, and can translate complex information into practical, easy to understand resources. You are passionate about supporting the teaching profession and bring a positive, proactive approach to everything you do.Experience working within education, professional practice, policy, or a related environment.Strong project coordination and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build productive working relationships.Experience developing learning resources, presentations, guidance materials or professional documentation. Key Selection CriteriaKnowledge of the teaching profession, particularly within Victorian early childhood services and/ or schools and demonstrated understanding of how the regulatory requirements of teachers are linked to the quality and accountability of the profession.Successful organisation and management of projects, including working collaboratively with staff and stakeholders and developing and implementing systems and procedures to prioritise, define clear objectives, assess and monitor risk, and review and evaluate the effectiveness of the outcomes.Strong capacity in written, verbal and presentation skills. The ability to present complex and complicated information for a range of internal and external stakeholders, including stakeholder presentations (face to face and online), reports and briefings as required.
