Payroll Accountant | 8-Month Max Term Contract (Maternity Leave Cover)

Brady Marine & Civil is seeking an experienced Payroll Accountant to join our Finance team on an 8-month maximum term contract to cover maternity leave. This is a fantastic opportunity for a payroll professional who thrives in a fast-paced civil construction environment and enjoys managing complex payroll and compliance requirements across multiple jurisdictions.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for the end-to-end payroll function, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with relevant legislation, enterprise agreements, taxation obligations, and company policies.

You will also support payroll reporting, reconciliations, costing activities, and provide valuable payroll insights to key stakeholders across the business.

• End-to-end payroll processing for a multi-state workforce

• Interpretation and application of Enterprise Agreements, Awards, and employment legislation

• Payroll reconciliations, payroll journals, and General Ledger postings

• Management of PAYG, Superannuation, Payroll Tax, WorkCover and Long Service Leave obligations

• Preparation of payroll reporting, costing analysis and stakeholder reporting

• Maintenance and administration of payroll and ERP systems

• Support month-end and year-end payroll processes

• Ensure payroll compliance across multiple states and jurisdictions

• Partner with Finance, HR and Operational teams to resolve complex payroll matters

• Previous payroll experience within the Construction industry

• Strong experience interpreting and applying Enterprise Agreements

• Advanced Excel skills

• Proven experience managing multi-state payroll compliance, including: WorkCover, payroll tax and long service leave

• Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar Payroll Accountant / Senior Payroll Officer role (preferred)

• Experience working with complex ERP/payroll systems

• Previous exposure to Oracle and Definitiv systems

• Experience within project-based or civil construction environments

• Payroll, finance and accounting knowledge including payroll reconciliations and reporting
