Arafura is developing the Nolans rare earths project in the Northern Territory, a greenfield operation producing the rare earths that will enable the global energy transition and future technologies.
Nolans has been identified as nationally significant and we aim to create a positive legacy for generations to come. We are currently a team of around 40 people, which means the people joining us now will shape not just how this project is delivered, but how Australia's rare earths sector impacts the global industry. We are moving into delivery and construction, and we are looking for an Accounts Payable Officer to keep our suppliers and contractors paid accurately and on time. The volume and complexity coming through this role grows quickly from here, and how well it runs is felt by everyone building the project.
The role is offered at approximately three days per week, with genuine flexibility in how those days are shaped around what matters to you.
What you'll deliverProcess supplier invoices from receipt through to paymentOwn the accounts payable inbox as the first point of contact for suppliers and internal teamsMatch invoices to purchase orders and resolve queries directly with budget ownersPrepare and support payment runs, including supplier statement reconciliationsAdminister employee expense claims and corporate card acquittalsSupport month end close with clean, audit ready recordsHelp shape the processes and controls that carry us from a small team into construction and operations
What you bringAn accounting background is desirable, whether an assistant accountant or accounts officer role, or a qualification you are part way throughSolid accounts payable experience, ideally gained in a project, construction or resources environmentConfidence working in an ERP system and strong Excel skillsReal accuracy and the discipline to keep records clean under volumeThe judgement to know what you can resolve yourself and what needs escalatingA collaborative and respectful approach with suppliers and internal stakeholders alikeDiscretion with sensitive commercial and financial information
