About the role
The Rowing Support Officer is responsible to the Principal through the Rowing Manager for the support of the administration and management of the school's Rowing Junior Coaches. The school operates an extensive sporting program for both boys and girls, participating in sporting competitions as well as participating in Rowing SA Regattas. The Rowing Support Officer is responsible for exercising initiative, discretion and judgment in liaising with players, coaches and team managers of Rowing. The Rowing Support Officer is responsible for exercising these same qualities whilst conducting a support service in liaising with Rowing SA and other schools, and for maintaining effective lines of communication within the school and with parents about the school's Rowing activities. This role requires work outside of normal business hours, including Saturdays.
Two opportunities are available:
20 hours per week
10 hours per week
Key responsibilities
Undertaking the role of Lead Coach
Mentoring, training and supervision of other coaches
Assist with crew selection and associated policies
Attendance and contribution at Rowing camps
Assistance with logistics, towing needs and event management
Assist in the growth of a Rowing culture through Parent Information Nights and peripheral activities
Construction of season training programs
Ensure WH&S requirements are met
General administration and clerical duties to support the Rowing program
Assist the operation of the school's Rowing program during regattas
About you
Ability to communicate effectively and establish positive working relationships with a diversity of groups and individuals, exercising initiative, discretion and confidentiality in the daily management of the role
Applied Team Leadership in order to implement, monitor and achieve organisational objectives and contribution to organisational change through excellent interpersonal skills which foster trust and cooperation
Ability to work independently, operate as part of a small and multi-level teams, prioritise tasks in a flexible manner to manage a range of administrative functions within agreed timelines
Proven experience to provide a professional support service to senior management with tact and integrity
Demonstrated depth of knowledge and substantial experience in the sport of rowing, encompassing leadership within Rowing Club operations as well as active participation in competitive rowing event
Knowledge and commitment to promoting and creating a safe and inclusive work environment; and the legislative requirements of equal Opportunity and Work Health and Safety legislation
Must have or be willing to obtain a current Driver's License, Boat Operators License, and First Aid
A cleared Department for Education Employment declaration
Cleared through a Department of Human Services (DHS) Working With Children Check (WWCC) prior to confirmation of appointment and 5 years thereafter
Level 1 Rowing Coaching Accreditation (desirable)
