Parkes Hospital is a modern regional health service with contemporary clinical spaces and equipment. The ED includes four treatment beds plus a spacious resuscitation bay, within a hospital with a 27-bed inpatient facility.

When a patient deteriorates, the resus area gives clinicians room to assess, escalate and deliver care efficiently. You will also have doctors onsite 24/7 across the ED and ward — an important advantage for nurses moving from a metropolitan setting who want to embrace rural breadth without stepping away from direct medical backup.

The service has the infrastructure to support acute care, including CT, ultrasound and X-ray imaging, pathology with point-of-care testing, an onsite helipad and after-hours emergency surgical cover.

An express pathway into senior practice

Parkes gives experienced nurses a practical route forward.

Clinical Nurse Educators work across ED and the inpatient unit, with education embedded into the service. Nurses are supported to build the experience and evidence required for progression, including personal regrading to Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 1.

There are also opportunities to move into education, quality improvement, research and leadership, with relieving management experience available for CNS nurses.
