Who we are

Maverick is part of the For The Love Hospitality group, run by sibling duo, Adam and Elisa. We’ve been creating since 2012, with other venues Greta and Elio’s Place also in the Melbourne CBD.

Maverick is located in the 80 Collins precinct which has become a go-to culinary centre in the Melbourne CBD. Maverick is your go to Melbourne cafe, proudly serving a fresh, seasonal breakfast and lunch menu with modern Australian flare, 7 days a week. 

We have an exciting opportunity for a full time Sous Chef to work closely with our Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations. This is a full time role and includes weekends, with daytime hours.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and delivering high-quality dishes with consistency and attention to detail.

• Support the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen, ensuring efficient and smooth service.

• Help maintain a clean, organised, and well-equipped kitchen, including stock control and equipment upkeep.

• Ensure food safety standards are consistently upheld across all kitchen operations.

• Work collaboratively with the wider Maverick team to create exceptional dining experiences and foster a positive, supportive workplace culture.

• Weekend availability is essential.

Skills and Experience

• A minimum of 2 years' experience as a Sous Chef, or at least 3 years' experience as a Senior Chef de Partie in a high-volume kitchen.

• Proven experience in a fast-paced breakfast or brunch environment, with the ability to perform under pressure and adapt to changing service demands.

• Strong culinary skills with exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to consistency.

• A genuine passion for quality food and delivering outstanding hospitality experiences.

• Excellent communication, leadership, organisation, and time management skills.

• Sound knowledge of food safety and hygiene and occupational health and safety standards.
