About Equestrian Victoria
Equestrian Victoria is the peak body for horse sports in Victoria and the state arm of Equestrian Australia, which is affiliated with the Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI). As a non-profit organisation incorporated under the Associations Incorporations Act of Victoria, it represents individual members, affiliated clubs, life members, coaches, and officials.
The organisation maintains strong links with key State Government and Non-Government agencies, including Sport & Recreation Victoria, Parks Victoria, and VicSports. Equestrian Victoria oversees horse sports, ranging from Olympic disciplines such as Dressage, Eventing, Showjumping, and Para-Equestrian to national and international sports including Show Horse, Interschool, Carriage Driving, and Vaulting. The team is dedicated to supporting safe, inclusive, and high-quality participation and competition across all these disciplines.
About the role
The Company Secretary is a predominately remote based, part-time role, between 15 to 20 hrs per week. The role is responsible for supporting the governance framework of Equestrian Victoria, including coordinating board and committee meetings, preparing agendas and minutes, and ensuring accurate records are maintained. The Company Secretary oversees compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and internal policies, and assists with the preparation and lodgment of statutory filings. Day-to-day tasks include managing corporate registers, maintaining up-to-date governance documentation, and supporting risk management and policy review processes. The role also involves liaising with board members, senior management, key stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to ensure effective communication and timely governance outcomes.
About you
You are an experienced company secretary with strong governance and compliance capabilities. You are well versed in the corporate and association governance frameworks, regulatory requirements, and board processes and are well regarded for your disctretion and integrity.
You have an exceptional attention to detail and are highly organised. You thrive in the process of meeting administration, including preparing agendas, taking minutes, organizing board papers, and maintaining accurate records and registers.
As a NFP organisation with a volunteer board, you understand the environment and have a track record of exceptional communication and interpersonal skils, with the ability to work collaboratively with board members, management, members, and external stakeholders.
Whilst not mandatory, relevant tertiary qualifications in law, business, governance, or a related discipline, and/or professional governance certification (e.g., from a governance institute) are highly regarded, as is experience in not-for-profit, membership, or sporting organisations.
