The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced, commercially minded Store Manager to lead our George Street store.

Reporting to senior management, you will be responsible for sales performance, customer experience, team leadership, rostering, store presentation and daily operations.

You will have the freedom to manage the store effectively and contribute ideas while working within Georges Cameras’ established values, culture, policies and strategic direction. This is a hands-on role requiring regular communication, dependable reporting and close collaboration with management.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the store’s sales, profitability, customer experience and daily operations.

• Set targets and KPIs in consultation with management, monitor results and coach the team to achieve them.

• Analyse sales, labour, conversion, product and customer data to identify opportunities and improve performance.

• Build efficient rosters aligned with customer demand, team availability and labour budgets.

• Lead, train and develop the team while maintaining high morale, clear expectations and accountability.

• Maintain outstanding customer-service, merchandising, display and store-presentation standards.

• Ensure product launches, promotional campaigns and supplier displays are executed correctly and on time.

• Manage stock levels, replenishment, inventory accuracy and loss prevention.

• Maintain and enforce standard operating procedures, keep them current and recommend improvements as the business evolves.

• Ensure team members are trained in and consistently follow all relevant SOPs.

• Recruit, onboard and performance-manage team members in consultation with management.

• Provide accurate reporting on results, risks, opportunities and action plans.

• Ensure company policies, safety requirements and operational standards are consistently followed.

• Work collaboratively with senior management and contribute ideas while protecting the culture and values of the family-owned business.

What You’ll Bring

• Proven experience successfully managing a retail store or comparable customer-focused business.

• A passion for retail and delivering exceptional customer experiences.

• Demonstrated success in achieving sales targets and improving commercial performance.

• Confidence working with KPIs, budgets, rosters, labour costs and sales data.

• The ability to turn performance insights into practical action.

• Strong leadership skills, balancing team motivation with accountability.

• Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving abilities.

• High standards across merchandising, stock management and store presentation.

• A collaborative and dependable management style.

• Sound judgement and the ability to operate effectively within an established management structure.

• Respect for the personal relationships, culture and values that are important to a family-owned business.

• Availability to work across a seven-day retail roster when required.

An interest in photography, videography, content creation or consumer technology would be highly regarded. Specialist product knowledge is beneficial, but strong retail leadership and commercial management experience are our priorities.
