About the role
About the company:
Norwest Crane Hire is renowned for providing quality crane, transport, logistics, and labour services to major mining and resource companies. We take pride in being more than just a service provider; we are a trusted partner dedicated to our clients’ success. Our personal approach and collaborative spirit set us apart in delivering optimal lifting and transport solutions.
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a dedicated HSEQ Advisor to provide expert liaison, guidance, support, and hands-on assistance to Supervisors, employees, and contractors on all health, safety, environmental, and quality matters. Reporting directly to the Head of Safety, you will play a key role in developing and implementing robust HSEQ strategies, while fostering strong, ongoing relationships with clients and stakeholders to drive a proactive, compliance-focused safety culture.
Mentor and lead all personnel daily to embed safe work practices, foster a proactive safety mindset, and empower workers to stop the job when hazards emerge.
Conduct in field task observations, workplace checks, and direct safety conversations with the workforce to verify compliance and build strong relationships.
Drive clear, timely communication across teams and with Client HSE / contractor representatives to resolve issues quickly and maintain a positive, collaborative safety culture.
Review and champion critical HSE documentation (JHAs, SWMS, permits, PPE compliance) ensuring they are understood, correctly implemented, and actively followed on site.
Lead incident response and prevention — facilitate thorough investigations, support return-to-work programs and assist with workers’ compensation claims.
Support the development, implementation, and continual improvement of the organisation's Integrated Management System, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and ISO standards, including ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001.
Contribute to HSEQ excellence by developing and maintaining systems, facilitating toolbox meetings, inducting new starters, and partnering with Supervisors, Operations, and the Head of Safety to meet all KPIs and legal standards.
Monitor, analyse, and report HSEQ performance metrics, trends, and corrective actions, driving continuous improvement and operational excellence across all areas of the business.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety, as a minimum
2+ years’ experience in the mining industry preferred
Cert IV in Training and Assessment is deemed highly advantageous
ICAM Investigation Training is desirable
Current Valid Australian Drivers Licence
