About the Role

This role will be mainly responsible in ensuring that Iron Ore accounting activities are performed in a timely, accurate & efficient manner and in accordance with Group and International Accounting standards.

Key Accountabilities:

• Ensure conformance with the BHP Charter, the BHP Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations.
• An overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development.
• Ensuring day to day general ledger accounting activities are performed in a timely manner.
• Execute Accounting and Reporting processes timely and effectively, ensuring operational discipline and strict adherence to internal accounting guidelines and controls.
• Execute Joint venture queries timely and effectively, ensuring operational discipline and strict adherence to joint venture agreements.
• Review and reconciliation of relevant general ledgers balances to ensure transactions are recorded accurately.
• Preparation of briefing papers and Stewardship Review at financial reporting dates.
• Identify & implement process improvement opportunities.
• Continuously update process documentation to reflect latest processes.
• Contribute to and support global process standardisation and continuous improvement.
• Assist with analysis and query resolution as appropriate.
• Other tasks as directed by management.

About You

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting
• CA / CPA / ACCA (equivalent) or progressing towards would be an advantage
• With significant years of relevant work experience
• Proficiency with MS Excel and have had exposure working with SAP
• Demonstrated experience in the resources industry and a strong understanding of financial accounting concepts and processes, preferably in a mining environment
