The Role

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Business Services / Tax Manager to join our growing team.

This role offers the opportunity to manage your own client portfolio while working closely with the Directors on advisory and strategic client matters. You will play a key role in overseeing a team of accountants while providing proactive tax and business advice to a broad range of clients across various industries.

The ideal candidate will have 6+ years of experience in public practice and enjoy developing strong client relationships while mentoring and supporting junior staff.

This role provides significant exposure to client interaction, tax planning and business advisory work, making it ideal for someone looking to take the next step in their professional career.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparation and review of Financial Statements and Income Tax Returns for:

  • Individuals

  • Partnerships

  • Trusts

  • Companies

  • Self-Managed Superannuation Funds (not essential)

• Managing a portfolio of business and investment clients and acting as a primary point of contact for client queries

• Building and maintaining strong client relationships, providing proactive advice on tax, structuring and business matters

• Preparation and review of tax planning strategies and advisory work

• Providing guidance to clients on tax efficiency, structuring and business performance

• Reviewing work prepared by junior and intermediate accountants and providing technical guidance and mentorship

• Managing workflow, job allocation and deadlines across the team to ensure timely completion of work

• Monitoring WIP, budgets and engagement progress

• Assisting Directors with complex tax advisory engagements and technical matters

• Identifying opportunities to add value to clients through additional advisory services

• Contributing to process improvements and efficiencies within the firm

• Developing and maintaining professional relationships and referral networks

Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or Commerce

• 6+ years of experience in public practice

• CA or CPA qualification preferred

• Experience with Xero, MYOB or BGL / SimpleFund360 highly regarded

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to manage client relationships and work collaboratively within a team

• Demonstrated experience reviewing work and mentoring junior staff
