The Role & Key Responsibilities
Diagnose, disassemble and fault-find mechanical watch movementsService, assemble, lubricate and regulate mechanical movements to brand specificationsRestore cases, bracelets and components to a factory-quality finishRepair or replace worn and defective componentsPerform precision adjustments to balance wheels, hairsprings, escapements and gear trainsRegulate movements to achieve chronometer-level accuracy and performanceRemove, fit and align dials and hands with precisionConduct timing, magnetism and water resistance testing to ensure quality standards are metComplete all servicing and repairs in accordance with manufacturer standards and workshop proceduresMaintain workshop tools, equipment and a clean, organised workspaceFollow technical work instructions, standard operating procedures and quality processesAdhere to workplace health and safety requirements, reporting hazards and incidents promptlyAssess, support and provide feedback on technical staff development, ensuring workflows, workmanship and quality meet Brand StandardsImplement and maintain product specifications, technical procedures, workshop standards, and the availability, maintenance and calibration of tools and equipment
Skills & Experience
Qualified with satisfactory completion of a watchmaking apprenticeship/WOSTEP 3000hr course (or) equivalentMinimum of 5 years’ experience with servicing precision mechanical timepieces (standard and chronograph)Successful completion of Evaluation SGWME 2824-2 (or) equivalent. E.g. OWME 1120 or EWME 2824Ability to service timepieces to the precision criteria established by Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS) or COSC (Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute - ISO 3159) or the relevant Brand equivalenceDesirable qualifications – ETA 7750, OME 3303/1861 or relevant Prestige Brand ExperiencePrior experience of jewellery or watch based refurbishment, including precious metalsWOSTEP or similar trade qualification in polishingExcellent organisational skills and methodologyBasic computer and administration skillsDemonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilityAbility to work towards targets and KPI’s
