About the Role

Otto’s Market Precinct is looking for a reliable and experienced Chef / Food Production Team Member to join our Homemade department.

This is a hands-on role working within our dedicated preparation kitchen, producing a range of fresh, quality food products for sale throughout Otto’s Market Precinct. While the position is offered on a casual basis, there is the opportunity for consistent, full-time hours for the right candidate.

This role would suit a chef who enjoys production, preparation and working as part of a busy team, and who takes pride in producing high-quality food efficiently and consistently.

What You’ll Be Doing

Working within the Homemade preparation kitchen, your day-to-day responsibilities will include and not limited to:

• Preparing and producing food for Otto’s Homemade range
• Preparing meals and products for retail cabinets and displays
• Producing bulk food items for retail sale
• Preparing ingredients and completing daily mise en place
• Following recipes, production specifications and portion requirements
• Cooking and preparing a variety of food products in a commercial kitchen environment
• Preparing products in accordance with daily production schedules
• Portioning, weighing, packaging and labelling finished products
• Maintaining consistent quality, presentation and portion control
• Ensuring food is prepared, stored and handled in accordance with food safety requirements
• Completing temperature checks and other required food safety procedures
• Maintaining a clean, organised and hygienic preparation area
• Cleaning and sanitising equipment, benches and work areas throughout the day
• Correctly storing ingredients and finished products
• Monitoring stock levels and communicating when ingredients or supplies are required
• Minimising food waste through appropriate preparation, storage and stock rotation
• Working efficiently to meet production deadlines
• Assisting with general kitchen duties as required
• Working closely with the Homemade team to ensure daily production requirements are met

What We’re Looking For

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Previous experience working as a Chef, Cook or in commercial food production
• Experience working in a busy commercial kitchen or food production environment
• Strong food preparation and cooking skills
• An understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements
• The ability to follow recipes and production specifications accurately
• Good organisation and time-management skills
• The ability to work efficiently and independently
• Strong attention to detail and consistency
• A positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team
• The ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
• A strong focus on quality, cleanliness and food presentation

Qualification

A formal Chef/Cook qualification is desirable but not necessarily essential for the right candidate. Relevant commercial kitchen or food production experience will be considered.

Hours

This is a casual position, with consistent/full-time hours available for the right candidate.

Availability may include early starts, weekdays and weekends depending on production requirements.
